Exercise 6: Visual Trigger

tower

Many people not believe what they are seeing. One of the tallest twin-tower is on fire, huge chunks of smoke is produced from the building. On September 11th, the United States suffers from a terrorist attack. As another plane crashes into the building, the fire gets larger, and more destruction can be seen on the tower. The crowd at ground floor stops on their feet to feast their eyes on what seems to be unbelievable. Those who just pay a visit to their love ones in this twin tower starts to panic, break down, and cry.

Many of the victims know they could not survive. So even choose to jump out of the building, while others make their last phone call to their love ones before they die.

As the fire starts to get stronger, screams for help are heard from the building, men jumping out from the 100odd story tower are totally unbelievable. The fire engine men tries the very best to eliminate the fire as they pull their fire hose up into the higher floors of the building. The policemen secures the area and quickly sends assistance up to evacuate the people in the building. Paramedics wait outside the building anxiously as they prepare to receive their first casualty.

Everything seems well, not until another series of scream could be heard. Then suddenly the top part of the building came collapsing down. More smoke could be seen, rubbles could be seen falling off the building in huge pieces. Many more died in the split of a second. Paramedics, policemen and firefighters made the majority of death. And because of that, the situation became worse, more manpower came down from every section, hoping to improve the almost impossible to salvage situation.

Within a few more minutes, things just got worse. Despite the increase in manpower, the fire could not be stopped; the building came crashing all the way down. The nation watched in shock, as there was nothing more they can do, but prepare themselves for the death toll.

  1. You have to be cautious with this topic, because it’s a real event and it’s so emotionally charged. By trying to place it as a Greek tragedy, you’re saying the attacks on 9/11 occur because of moral weakness of a particular character who must be punished.

That isn’t what you’re going for here, but really you’re picking out a sad event, rather than creating the plot elements of Greek Tragedy.
